ParaNorman gives our cold, dead, hearts a heart warming trailer

In a world where every other film on the big screen, or show on the small screen, is flooded with some form of computer animation it’s refreshing to see that studios are still making an effort to get their hands dirty in order make wonderful works of art. Laika, the wonderful animation studio that brought us 2009’s Coraline, has released the newest trailer for their latest stop-motion labor of love, ParaNorman. Check out the trailer after the break!

“The small New England town of Blithe Hollow comes under siege by the undead. Only a misunderstood local boy Norman Babcock, who has the ability to speak with the dead, is able to prevent the destruction of his town from a centuries-old witch’s curse. He’ll also have to take on ghosts, witches, zombies and worst of all, the moronic grown-ups. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits”

Laika seems to have captured the same lighting they had while making Coraline while somehow improving on the recipe. With a star studded cast (Casey AffleckTempestt BledsoeJeff GarlinJohn GoodmanBernard HillAnna KendrickLeslie MannChristopher Mintz-PlasseKodi Smit-McPheeElaine Stritch and Tucker Albrizzi) and an amazingly passionate development team, I see nothing but great things for this studio house and this film.

ParaNorman hits theaters August 17th, 2012.
