Cyanogen Mod 7 Now on the Samsung Epic 4G

Attention rom flashers, the Cyanogen Mod 7 has finally been released for the Samsung Epic 4G. Epic user’s have been waiting for almost a year to receive the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) update to their smart phone due to Samsung and Sprint’s long developer/certify time, and, a few weeks ago, an official over-the-air update finally hit the airwaves. Now, Cyanogen is quickly following that release with their own official release of the Mod 7 rom. This rom allows tech savvy individuals to install and run a version of the OS that is modified to remove carrier bloatware, add functionality to your phone, and dump manufacturer’s custom skins that often bog down the user experience.

<WARNING> Flashing a custom rom can brick your phone if not performed correctly (and sometimes even if you follow instructions to a T) and voids your warranty. Proceed at your own risk. </WARNING>

If you are brave enough to flash the rom on your Epic 4g (or any other Android phone), visit the XDA-Developers and A) see if your phone is compatible, and B) look for instructions for your specific phone. If you need any help, their forum area is quite robust and full of helpful information. Best of luck.

If you have tried the new Cyanogen Mod 7 on your Epic 4G, sound off in the comments and let us know what you think of it.
