Black Out: Cocaine, Comedy and Corpses. Just what the doctor ordered.

Dutch director Arne Toonen brings his sophomore effort ‘Black Out’ to the big screen next week in European cinemas. Black Out is an action comedy that, from the trailer, looks to play out as a long lost love letter to the early works of Guy Ritchie (Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch). Not necessarily a bad thing. We’ve had a serious drought in the quality of action comedies with great storytelling and impressive action as of recent. I’m hoping that Black Out can final help to break that dry spell. Check out the trailer for yourself after the break.

“The day before his wedding, ex-criminal Jos Vreeswijk wakes up with the body of a dead man next to him. He can’t remember anything from the night before and is held responsible for 50 kilos of missing cocaine. Jos has 24 hours to find the cocaine, discover what happened the night before and marry the woman of his dreams.”

For those of us in the US, Black Out will most likely be a limited released, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled at your local art house cinema for this gem. For everyone else, Black Out opens January 26th, 2012.
